Hi everyone!

Goodness me it feels like a long time since I've blogged! Well over two weeks in fact...  I know that might not sound like a long time to some people but felt like forever for me! I was really ill for just over a week, i could barely look at my phone screen let alone my laptop. Then i had so much Uni work to catch up on as a result of this, and resting so I could be well enough for.... my birthday weekend! YAY!

*warning* this post may be a tad photo heavy, sorry!

Pretty cards!
So I arrived back in Somerset from Uni late on Friday and Mike and I had a cheeky Chinese and early night. Saturday I was up early and drove home to find my parent's waiting in the dining room surrounded by balloons, bunting, flowers, banners and basically  just an explosion of pink!

Balloon in a balloon // pretty pink flowers // miniature bunting
Saturday was a day for family, with all my family, family friends and godparents invited over for drinks and nibbles. Mum had put on an awesome spread, champagne was flowing and finished off with the scrummiest cupcakes: strawberries & cream, pink lemonade, white chocolate and tiramasu... SO good.

Sunday was chilled, the way Sundays should be.

Monday evening; we went to ASK for my birthday meal - Mike and I, my parents, ny brother and his girlfriend. I know how some people feel about chain restaurants, but i LOVE the food at ASK, so so good.

Pollo Milanese // Cavatelli con zuchinne e pesto ... with extra chicken :) deeelish

They even put candles in my dessert... (honeycomb cheesecake, my FAVE)

OOTN - Primark leather leggings // Topshop top // H&M Mint jacket (blog post coming soon!)

Mike took the day off on Tuesday which was lovely to spend an extra day of the week together! After a lazy morning we headed out to 'see where the day took us'! Not too long later Mike pulled up in front if none other than the Mulberry shop and we headed in to pick something but.... there was nothing I fancied. Crazy, I know. Just felt like I was forcing myself to choose something which wasn't fair on Mike, plus we agreed we'd find something else that I really really wanted. One lovely country pub lunch later and we headed home for a chilled evening of movies and munchies :)

An early night required as I would no doubt be awake super early as Wednesday was MY BIRTHDAY!!

Mike was long gone when I woke up - I know I said I'd wake early but 4:30am when he gets up for work was too much....
I raced home to find Mum still in bed (tut), made her get up as we were off to a spa for the day.
Off to the spa....I was excited, honestly... it was just very early!

The spa was actually part of a hotel close to me in Somerset - a big, beautiful country house with lovely grounds and seriously gorgeous decor, and a champagne arrival helped kick things off...

Yep...makeup free...sorry! Love the fact I look twice the length of my Mum ha!
After doing the rounds of the pool/sauna/steamroom etc, we went for lunch which I didn't take my camera to - big mistake, it was yummy and the dining room was beautiful! Followed by a long walk around the grounds...

This picture just made me feel cosy :)
We both then had a massage and facial which was heaven and my skin felt so dreamy afterwards, even if she said I had 'very knotty shoulders' and I was wincing into my towel as she kneaded them out...

After our treatments we took off round a different part of the gorunds before snuggling up by a massive roaring fire with a pot of tea for two...

Before heading home for fish & chips, which Mum couldn't believe is what i wanted for my proper birthday meal, but our local fish & chip shop is beyond yum, followed by more champagne and cupcakes!

Slightly annoyingly I had to travel back to Uni on the evening of my birthday, but I'd had such a lovely few days at home plus I really needed to go to lectures on Thursday! So I arrived back to my house at about 11pm to my very excitable housemates, who bundled me upstairs to my bedroom while they lit the candles...

Not sure what went on with the colour here, oopsie!

...On yet more cupcakes! I wonder if it's obvious that I love cupcakes....

Apparently they'd spent the whole day baking and did admit to polishing off a few before I arrived - which they insisted was just to ensure that 21 cakes remained! They gave me my presents, a beautiful little glass perfume bottle, engraved with my name and a message, and a really pretty candle holder... SO cute :D

All in all, I had the best birthday, and I'm very lucky to have such wonderful friends, family friends and family!

Lucky, lucky lady!

Pheeew! Sorry this post was a rambler, I haven't blogged for so long felt like I had to get it all out.

In case you hadn't noticed from this post, girl finally got instagram! Mike bought me the ipad mini for my birthday and I am absolutely loving it, and can now join in with instafun :) Follow me and say hi! @samyasays

Oh and last night my friends and I at Uni went out for a pretty crazy night to celebrate my birthday; far too many shots and lots of dancing! Here's a snapshot...

I'm currently still recovering in bed watching Harry Potter, reading blogs and devouring a McDonald's my housemate brought back from Uni for me... what a cutie!

Speak soon!
