2013

Hi lovelies!

I know everyone has been posting about 2013, New Year’s resolutions etc…so here’s my (rather late) offering! Just going to warn you now...it's a rambling one! I promise my next few posts will be short and sweet :)

Well we are now one whole week into 2013, can you believe NYE was a week ago today? I don’t really believe in New Year’s resolutions as such - no-one ever sticks to them for more than a month! - so I’ve just come up with a few things I want to do this year:

❤ Say yes more, and take as many opportunities that come my way. Don’t waste a day – sorry to sound sombre, but if you read my rambley Christmas post I mentioned that a few people in my life had lost very loved ones in theirs, and this was a cruel reminder that life can be taken so quickly so ENJOY IT :)

❤ Look after myself more. Eat a little healthier, drink more water, get more sleep, make healthier lifestyle choices! I don’t believe in dieting and think every girl in the world should throw away her scales, being happy and healthy comes from just being sensible with your food. Instead of restricting myself and denying myself anything, just be sensible. If I crave a chocolate biscuit, I’ll have a chocolate biscuit but I don’t need to take the packet up to my bedroom and polish off the lot! I don’t want to lose weight, I want to look, feel and generally be healthier.

❤ Exercise more. Last year I really got into yoga and pilates at Uni, and I want to continue that because they were SO relaxing and refreshing! Also in the summer term my friends and I used to go for a run on the beach (we’re lucky to be at a coastal University) every other morning or so, and I’m hoping we’ll start again soon when the weather lightens up a bit! I went to visit my dear 93yo Granny at Christmas, and she was watching me and saying things like “Ahh to be mobile,” and "Look at you moving around with such ease" and things like that – made me realise I won’t have my youth and mobility forever, so might as well make the most out of it now!

Be grateful for my life and the things I have. There is always, always something to be thankful for. I read a quote somewhere, i think on Tumblr, that said something like "If you have a pulse, you have something to be grateful for" and it's true.

❤ Improve my little blog! I’m still pretty new and I’ve really enjoyed blogging so far, but I hope to get a better layout and design, keep posting regularly and discover more blogs and bloggers to while away an evening reading.

❤ Don’t sweat the small stuff... I know, a cliché, but it’s true! Be more positive, be grateful for everything I am so very lucky to have. So what if someone has outbid me on ebay, or my favourite jeans don’t fit anymore, or Topshop has sold out of something in my size, or someone was rude to me or I pranged my car… I always try and live by the motto ‘It could always be worse’, just as a reminder that although I think I may be having a bad day, it’s nothing compared to some of the horrors that are happening in this world.

❤ Take more pictures...of everything, i don't think people take enough photos!

❤ I also really want to learn to do something new - call me Grandma, but i want to learn to knit! I want to bake more, cook more and learn more about photography. I was really into it at school and spent many a lunch break in the dark room developing things. Technology has moved on loads since then, and even though there's no way i can afford a snazzy camera, I'd just like to know more about making beautiful photographs.

WHOA that was a rambler. You get the idea! There are so many pictures with inspirational quotes and lovely words, many that want me to just pack a bag jump on a plane and live my life - but two more years of Uni get in the way of that haha! Here's a few more I found that I really liked:

My friend has this Dalai Lama quote tattooed on his leg, and i do really like the words and meaning.

Anyway, feels like I've been writing this post all night and I've found so many lovely things on we heart it and Tumblr - my Tumblr link is at the top of my blog if you'd like to have a look :)

Promise I will be back with more non-rambley beauty and style posts next time, just had to get all the New Year rambles out.

I will leave you with this....

Speak soon!
